Electronic file requirements
We want your print job to look its best. Here’s how you can help:
Dover Post Printing is Macintosh based.
We accept electronic & digital files in accordance with the following requirements:
We prefer files saved as a CMYK or spot-color, high-resolution PDF with fonts embedded
(subset fonts embedded too). We can’t process your job if fonts aren’t embedded.
Please do NOT use the fonts Times New Roman or Arial. Both are problem fonts with
our equipment and show up as not embedded in your PDF files and will not print.
Layout files in QuarkXpress 5.0 through 7.0.
Layout files in Adobe Illustrator 12 and all fonts must be created to outlines
and files saved as Illustrator EPS.
All photos used in all documents must be no less than 300 ppi resolution, saved as
Photoshop tiff process color, grayscale or bitmap files. (Low resolution files will
result in poor-quality reproduction and will not be accepted.) We prefer tiff files, but
will accept JPG files saved at maximum quality.
All artwork & photos that will print as process color must be in CMYK mode. ICC or
RGB color files will not be accepted.
All artwork & photos that will print a spot color or PMS color must be
saved as such.
All files must have the appropriate suffix added to the files in order for us to be able
to open them, such as .eps .tif .qxd .pmd
The color black used in files must be black only, NOT a build of CMYK.
When using black text over color, please select it to overprint, NOT knockout
the color.
All electronic files that are not sent as PDFs must be accoompanied by:
A color printed copy to show how your file is to print.
All original supporting image and photo files that are placed in your document.
All fonts used in your document – including printer and screen fonts.
These requirements are all in the interest of giving you the best possible quality printing service.
